            Excessive use of Facebook as a social media platform among adolescents has been associated with several challenges; one of the common challenges is the addiction it creates on adolescents. Extreme use of Facebook by adolescents is classified as a major form of addition; this problem has been related with certain symptoms such as sleep-disturbance and social isolation of adolescents from other members of the society. It is essential to acknowledge that the symptoms of Facebook addiction among adolescents vary significantly. The other effect of Facebook on adolescents is Academic Disturbance; many researchers believe that the excessive use of Facebook jeopardize the academic performance among adolescents. This is because many adolescents spend a significant amount of their time on Facebook, compared to the amounts of time dedicated to perform their academic activities. As a social media platform, Facebook exposes adolescents to Cyber-Bullying; cyber-bullying involves psychological harassment that adolescents are subjected while using Facebook as a communication channel.
Impacts of Facebook on Children
            Certain researchers argue that the use of Facebook among children reduces their emotional connection with other members of the society, hence, reduces social attachment. Besides, Facebook as a social media channel may subject Children to Facebook depression; this is a critical psychological disorder related with the over-use of social media sites. The use of Facebook among children may also lead to the development of Narcissist characteristics or behaviors that involve excessive fascination with one’s appearance. Consequently, certain researchers argue that too much usage of Facebook by children limited their proper psychological development. It reduces their capacity to engage in critical and creative thinking.
